Yesterday we had to stay home to wait on the A/C guy. Turns out that our unit is too small for the square footage of our house. Ugh! We are currently waiting on a call from a dealer and hoping they will "trade in" our current unit towards the purchase of a new, larger unit. We just bought this house in March of 2008 so the unit is not old, it was installed in January of 2008. I hope they can strike a deal with us so we can be comfortable all year long. We shall see. So, needless to say, by the time the A/C man got here and did all of his "stuff" the day was pretty much gone. We went to Walmart and I managed to find the Reach Dental Floss but other than that, it was pretty much a bust as far as shopping goes. Here's hoping today is a better shopping day! :)

What a bummer of a day! I found out today that starting today, Publix will no longer accept both a Publix AND a competitor $ off $ coupon within the same order. :( This came straight from corporate and they even showed me the letter! I also found out that if I have a Publix $5 off $30 and a Winn-Dixie $5 off $40 that I can NOT purchase $70 worth of goods and use them both in the same order either. The orders must be split up. Dang, that stinks! Oh well, it was fun while it lasted! :) This order should have been nearly free but they wouldn't allow even one last time the combining of the $ off $ coupons so I put the pack of gum back and took the rest home. Still, all in all, it was a great shopping day! :)

No Spending Day!

Ya know, I WAS going to hit up some stores today for some great bargains but I've been reading some Frugal blogs and such and see a lot of people testing themselves with "No Spending Days" or even WEEKS so I figured I'd give it a whirl! (The day kind not the week kind. LOL) I want to go to Publix to get some $1 Capri Sun today but I won't. My husband is out of town until at least Monday so I can go to a BUNCH of stores all weekend long if I want too. LOL I, honestly, cannot remember the last time I didn't spend SOME kind of money in a whole day. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, let's see if I can make it! :)

UPDATE:

Well, I made it! And ya know what? It really wasn't that bad! Not a single dime came out of my house yesterday! No bills were paid, no gasoline was pumped, no sales items to be had, not anything! I honestly don't think I could do it for a full week but perhaps once a week might work for my family. I'll have to try it again soon! :)

I had some RR's that were expiring so I went to spend them and here's what I got:

I said "are you SURE?" and he said yes so I left. I then went to another Walgreen's to see if they had the razors, they did so here's what I got there:

Today we went out to eat at Red Lobster. We each had our own meal as well as a beverage and PJ had 2 meals! LOL Our waiter was magnificent and the food was grand! We had a GC we received as a Christmas gift so that made the meal even more pleasurable! :) Our bill would have been $40.00 (with tip) but after using our GC we only spent $15.00 OOP and even had leftovers to bring home! :)

So I didn't do any shopping yesterday except at the local bread store. I normally don't shop there as they usually only have expired items and I like my bread REALLY FRESH, but I decided to stop in jic. I was Pleasantly surprised to find brand new/fresh items in the store! I purchased a loaf of bread (sell by 1/26/09), a box of Hostess mini muffins (exp 2/20/09), a package of Hostess Sweet Sixteen doughnuts (exp 2/1/09) as well as a bag of Golden Flake potato chips all for only $6.58. The bread was the greatest bargain as it sells for $2.69 in the grocery stores and was only $1.01 at the bread store. :) i guess the secret of this particular store is "shop on Saturday's" so i'll definitely give it a try again next weekend. :) i hope you all had a great Saturday!
